The airline and airport monitoring company, Skytrax, recently completed more than 8.2 million interviews with airline passengers around the world to determine which airport they felt was the best.
Hong Kong International Airport won the largest number of votes for the seventh year in the last ten. It was followed by Singapore’s Changi Airport, Seoul’s Incheon Airport, Kuala Lumpur International – and the Munich, Germany airport.
Skytrax’s chief executive, Edward Plaisted, commented: "For Hong Kong to be named winner of [the] world's best airport title for the seventh time in ten years is a truly notable achievement.
"To retain this title amidst such strong competition is testament to an airport that is clearly serving its customers well."
Airport awards were also handed out to airports in various regions of the world. San Francisco International Airport took the award in the US category, and Brisbane International Airport won the Australia-Pacific honours.
Cape Town International Airport was voted the top airport in Africa, and Athens International Airport was named the leading facility in southern Europe.
