New check-in facilities at Southampton - Southampton Airport News
Airport news for Southampton on 19/06/2008.
Southampton Airport will soon be offering passengers new facilities to improve their check-in process. As the result of a £3 million investment, the airport now offers new check-in desks as well as self-service kiosks. Two self-service kiosks are located in the short-stay car park offering travellers a quick way to check-in before entering the crowded terminal.
In addition to the check-in desks, Southampton Airport has also made improvements to their baggage handling facilities, increasing the number of bags the airport can process every hour in order to speed up the check-in process.
David Lees, Development Director at Southampton Airport, said: “The installation of 13 new check-in kiosks will benefit the time-conscious passenger by providing additional choice for check-in.”
Southampton Airport is the 20th largest airport in the UK and is owned and operated by the British Airport Authority (BAA). In 2007, the airport handled almost two million passengers, an increase of 2.8 per cent over 2006.
Although Air France offers flights from Southampton to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, the most prolific airline from Southampton is Flybe. Flybe offers a number of flights from the airport including regular service to Amserdam, Brussels, Glasgow, Paris, and Manchester, as well as several seasonal flights to destinations such as Geneva, Berne, and Salzburg.
