The company said on Wednesday that it would be adding year-round service from the major British gateway to Tel Aviv beginning on 1 November. The flights will depart twice weekly; seats went on sale today for as low as £82.99 each way, inclusive of taxes, the airline said.
Easyjet’s commercial manager for the United Kingdom, Ali Gayward, said in statement there was a “strong cultural link” between Israel and the northwest of England, noting the substantial percentage of Jewish people living in and around Manchester. She said the carrier hoped the new direct service would help to demonstrate its commitment to offering plenty of low-cost options for in-demand routes.
Similarly, Ken O’Toole, chief commercial officer of Manchester Airports Group said that the move comes as part of EasyJet’s continued growth at Manchester airport. He added that his organisation supported such growth plans and that Tel Aviv should prove to be a popular route for Manchester residents looking to visit family and return home to the northwest.
EasyJet currently offers flights to 25 different destinations from Manchester airport and service between Tel Aviv and Luton airport near London.
