The British flag carrier has commenced new services from London City airport.

British Airways is offering a range of six new routes from the Docklands airport, including nonstop service to Majorca’s Mahon. Analysts say this completes the carrier’s Balearic Islands portfolio after the company began operating flights from City to both Ibiza and Majorca in 2010.

Additional destinations kicking off from the Docklands this summer include the Isle of Man, Quimper, Angers, Aberdeen and Venice. With the launch of the six new routes, British Airways offers flights from London City to 23 destinations across the UK, Europe and the United States.

BA said in a press release issued at the weekend that the move comes as part of its efforts to grow its route network in the effort of giving customers “more choice to more business and leisure destinations".

The company’s head of commercial, Luke Hayhoe, said in a statement that BA was quite excited about the new City routes, particularly because several of them are completely new destinations for the airport. He added that with all-inclusive fares to each great spot alongside 20-minute check-in with luggage that the new routes would prove to be popular over the coming months.
