Monarch Airlines has announced a new ‘skis fly for free’ scheme for Leeds Bradford passengers.

From now through the end of the year, those booking flights to winter sports destinations via the carrier’s new ski-specific website can check their skis for free, providing savings of £39.98. The scheme is on offer for flights between Leeds Bradford and top ski holiday destinations in France, Switzerland, Austria and Bavaria, according to the carrier’s press release issued on 7 November.

“The launch of these ski routes for winter 2012/13 marks an exciting new era for Monarch,” says managing director Kevin George on behalf of Monarch Airlines.

He added, “We are targeting a new customer base of skiers which is strengthened by the addition of services from Leeds Bradford Airport, launching this winter. The introduction of our first scheduled ski programme comes in response to customer demand. More and more people are booking all elements of their ski holidays separately now and at Monarch we can provide them with the facilities to book scheduled flights and enhance their overall holiday experience with our vast range of add ons and optional choices.”

Likewise, Leeds Bradford airport’s commercial director Tony Hallwood said, “Munich and Grenoble are ideally situated for easy access to the Alps and a wide variety of premier ski resorts. As well as skiing and snowboarding the Apres-Ski is also excellent with great bars and restaurants to choose from. Both destinations will cater perfectly for skiers of all abilities.”
