Heathrow airport’s operator is set to table a new proposal for the prospect of adding a third runway, reports said this week.
The news comes via the Evening Standard newspaper, which reported on Thursday that officials from the facility are now aiming at building the new runway on the area extending toward Stanwell Moor village.
The proposal marks a significant change from previous plans would see the construction of the new strip just north of the facility’s existing runways.
Heathrow Airport Ltd. is now set to submit an official proposal for the new plan to the Davies Commission amid the government’s review on airport capacity, according to sources familiar with the matter, the paper reported.
The scheme will join two other Heathrow expansion plans already under consideration. However, A spokesman for the airport declined the opportunity to confirm the report on Thursday evening.
The news follows an announcement last week in which the airport proposed an initiative that would see the nosiest airlines named to the public amid efforts to curb noise pollution at the west London gateway.
