According to a press release issued this week, the introduction of the award-winning service follows a major upgrade to the British flag carrier’s Boeing 777-200 based at the south London airport. The upgrade features personal electronic shading, private wardrobes and premium dining in the new First cabin, and customers have also been recently enabled to book World Traveller Plus seats on all Gatwick-based flights.
Both classes are now on offer for the airline’s routes between Gatwick and Barbados, Bermuda, Port of Spain and St Lucia, officials said in the release.
World Traveller Plus seating offers extended benefits from the carrier’s normal Premium Economy seating including premium Club World menu items, entertainment add-ons, lumbar support and wider seats.
BA’s Gatwick-based commercial head Colm Lacy said in a statement that the new First Class service brought the best that British Airways has to offer to Gatwick customers and that the addition of both services was a “significant step forward” for the airline’s operations at Gatwick.
Premium holiday packages are available in conjunction with First and World Traveller Plus bookings, officials said. Packages feature some of the most sought-after accommodation in all four destinations, including the renowned Sandy Lane in Barbados and Cap Mansion in St Lucia.
