British Airways (BA) has recently introduced a new flight service to Innsbruck, a previous Winter Olympics host city. The five-a-week service to the Austrian city is the fifth newest route from Gatwick launched by BA this winter.
Skiing is extremely popular in the city. Innsbruck is considered as the most urban of ski cities, with skiing slopes nearer to the city compared to any other city in the world. The city’s close proximity to slopes enables holidaymakers to easily and quickly go to skiing areas even though they stay in the city.
Nine skiing areas in Innsbruck offer varied terrains, with 200 tracks to choose from for all levels of skiers. Each skiing area provides free shuttle bus ride from the city.
Innsbruck is also famous for snowboarding and several non-ski activities, such as bobsleigh riding and tobogganing. For après-ski, Innsbruck has a wide variety of bars and restaurants that offer excellent cuisine and drink at reasonable costs.
BA offers a great range of three to five-star hotels in Innsbruck. Guests can enjoy the many activities and sports in the city while staying at the four-star Grauer Bar, a new hotel with traditional Tyrolean architecture, well-known for its panoramic view of the nearby Alps. Other similar chic hotels are Maximilian, a famous family-run accommodation, and Innsbruck Hilton, located right at the city centre. Car hire service in Innsbruck is offered as well through Avis, the car rental partner of BA.
Alan Peever, General Manager of BA, informed that the airline is delighted to introduce Gatwick flights to Innsbruck. He further added that the city is a popular holiday destination during winter and the flight service is just in time for Christmas.
