A new air link connecting Aberdeen with Frankfurt is to go into service later this year. From 30 October, Germany carrier Lufthansa is to introduce a new service to Frankfurt with three fights a day.
The new service will coincide with the launch of Lufthansa’s new winter 2011/12 timetable. The service will also be offered at competitive rates.
Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa’s general manager for the UK and Ireland, says the new flights serving the oil and energy capital of Europe was a direct response to demand from business travellers. She said it will strengthen the airline’s position in top oil and energy markets around the world.
She went on to outline how Lufthansa serves nearly 80 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas and Asia. She said the carrier has ensured that the new timetable offers excellent connections both to its European network and its global network via the Frankfurt hub.
Lufthansa will be offering flights from Aberdeen to Frankfurt at just £49 for one-way trips and £89 for return fares. Those rates include all taxes and charges.
Ms Sammann said the airline would also be offering competitive business class rates to all of its destinations. Derek Provan, MD of Aberdeen Airport, said it was ‘fantastic news’.
He said the announcement meant a lot for the airport’s passengers. He added that a lot of work had gone into securing the new service.
