U.S. approves "Oneworld" carriers' alliance
Transatlantic mergers to be boosted

American Airlines reported on Sunday that the U.S. Transportation Department granted approval for its planned trans-Atlantic travel merger with several smaller airlines.
The airline said it demanded anti trust protection from U.S. regulators to prepare the alliance, named "oneworld", which will include British Airways, Finnair, Royal Jordanian and Iberia Airlines.
The Department of Transportation also gave permission for American Airlines' proposed alliance with British Airways and Iberia Airlines for all flights between North America and Europe, American Airlines' reported.
American Airlines' said that Oneworld is prepared to compete with two international airline alliances, SkyTeam and Star.
