British Airways has announced that it is planning to restore some of the travel perks it took away from cabin crew after industrial action early this year. Under the arrangement, staff enjoy 90 per cent off the price of air travel. BA has said it intends to restore this perk from 26 October. Some crew, however, may have to wait until 2013 to be eligible for the concession.

Though the dispute between cabin crew and British Airways management initially began over pay and conditions, the battle escalated after BA revoked travel perks for crew who took part in the initial round of strikes. This ended up being one of the most bitterly-resented elements in the dispute. The airline and the Unite union recently reached an agreement aimed at ending the dispute.

What remains unclear, however, is who will see their travel concessions restored and when that will happen. The airline has still not restored seniority for cabin crew who lost their travel perks as a result of strike action. BA added that restoration of travel concessions would be conditional on the union promising not to seek legal action against the airline.
