Air France was recently again forced to ground one of its Airbus A380 superjumbo on account of technical errors. This is the second time a technical error has been reported since the jet began flying on routes.
A spokesman for Air France revealed that a Air France flight from New York to Paris last week was detained when technical problems were reported on the aircraft. A problem with the fuel tanks was noted during pre flight checks and all the 511 passengers on board were deplaned.
Half of the passengers were placed on various other commercial flights to Paris, while the other half were accommodated on another Air France plane, a A340 aircraft, that later departed in the evening.
The exact cause of the technical failure was not determined by the maintenance crew of the airline. Air France re started flying the largest passenger aircraft in the world – the Airbus A380 on the New York- Paris route from November 23rd. However, just days later, a A380 flying to Paris was forced to return to New York when a fault with its navigation system was detected. a spokesman however reported that it was a minor error.
Singapore Airlines also found fault with its A380, when one of its carriers had to return back to Paris on the 27th of September, when one of its engine failed on its way to Singapore.
