One thing many fliers hate is having to stand in queues at the check-in desk. Although an unavoidable part of air travel, queuing can be a time consuming and tiresome experience.
So spare a thought for United Airline passengers who were forced to wait in line at Chicago’s O'Hare International Airport on Thursday as problems with the computer system prolonged the queuing process.
It seems that as many as 2,000 people were kept waiting in a line that stretched all the way through the airport terminal and ended outside the airport. The problem lasted for several hours and it was feared that flights would have to be cancelled as the situation took several hours to rectify.
"While we immediately work to fix it, flights are delayed and some may be canceled," airline spokeswoman Karen Pride announced in a recent statement. "We apologize to our customers for this inconvenience and recommend they allow for extra time at the airport and use united.com to check flight status and check-in."
However, United Airlines and the Chicago Department of Aviation have been quick to comment that this was just a small hiccup in the airport and airline’s outstanding records. Those who are planning to pass through the airport should have no problems as the situation has now been resolved.
