In this year’s survey of 38 UK airports, the small Blackpool terminal was found to be satisfying to air travellers due to quick and efficient check-in and security procedures, ease in reaching boarding gates, quality of the food offered by vendors and overall ambience.
Passengers participating in the survey were most flying to Mediterranean holiday destinations. They gave the Blackpool airport an overall satisfaction score of 80 in the new Which? Holiday magazine rankings.
It was clear from the survey results that passengers had a preference to smaller, easier-to-negotiate terminals, as London City and Robin Hood airports, also small facilities, followed Blackpool, with scores of 78 and 76, respectively.
The largest of the UK airports, operated by BAA, including Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted, achieved lower scores. Lowest of all was Heathrow Terminal 1, with Terminals 2, 3 and 4 also coming in close to the bottom of the list - along with Gatwick’s north and south terminals.
Stansted’s score was seventh from the bottom, coming in just below Manchester, the fourth-largest airport in Britain, and Luton, the UK’s fifth-largest.
