Airport news for Birmingham on 31/01/2008.
Birmingham International Airport is looking to fill a senior management position on its team and is willing to pay generously for the right person. The Airport is currently recruiting for a new chief executive and has a starting salary of £200,000 earmarked for the post.
Britain’s Sunday papers carried the advertisement for the position which stated that the successful candidate must be a "compelling and charismatic leader". In addition, the airport is looking for someone who is able to energize staff and transform the business.
The hiring process is being managed by Russell Reynolds Associates, a firm of head-hunters based in London. According to the firm, the CEO they have in mind will be able to lead the airport through a difficult but exciting period of development and expansion.
Birmingham International currently does not have anyone filling the position of CEO but has been under the direction of Joe Kelly since the death of former CEO Richard Heard a year ago.
The airport will be extending its main runway this year and working towards the goal of doubling its passenger figures by the year 2018. The new CEO will be responsible for making those goals a reality.
